My name is David Sligar. I have five years’ experience in budget and social policy divisions of Commonwealth Treasury and Finance Departments. I have also been an economic adviser in the offices of the Australian Treasurer, the NSW Opposition Leader and Andrew Leigh. (It should go without saying that all opinions on this blog are my own and not those of current or former employers.)

I’ve spent time as a carer, and I grew up in a single parent family in Campbelltown.

I’m currently living in Jakarta, and writing the dissertation component of a Masters in Economics. My background is in economics and sociology.

This blog focuses on policy and political economy. I also talk about my research interests – distributional considerations in economic policy, and links between health, psychology and poverty/inequality.
